Hiding likes is going to start being tested this week in the US! Currently it’s being tested in 7 other countries, and on Friday at #Wired25, the CEO of Instagram, @mosseri (Adam Mosseri), announced that about 1% or 2% of United States users would start seeing this.
This will affect only what your followers see – you will still be able to see the number of likes your pictures get.
When asked why this was such a big issue, Adam said: “It’s about young people. The idea is to try and depressurize Instagram. Make it less of a competition. Give people more space to focus on connecting with people that they love, things that inspire them,”. He continued: “But it’s really focused on young people. We have to see how it affects how people feel about the platform, how they use the platform, how it affects creator ecosystem, but I’ve been spending a lot of time on this personally.” .
What do you think? Will this make Instagram better or worse?
