Instagram Creator Accounts Add Scheduling of Posts!

HUGE  INSTAGRAM  NEWS!

If you have a Creator Account, @instagram has added the ability to schedule Feed posts and IGTV posts using Facebook Creator Studio! If you’re the kind of person who plans out their content in advance, or if you’re scheduling posts using an app like @latermedia or @planoly, this gives a free alternative to post photos and videos using your PC. You can plan your content, or a client’s content – then go to your day job. Or go on vacation.
To take advantage of this, make sure you switch to a Creator account, then follow these steps:

1. Go to https://business.facebook.com/creatorstudio (I know links don’t work here, just giving you an idea of how to do it.)
2. Click “Create Post”.
3. Type some text into the box.
4. Add location.
5. Add photo(s) or video(s) you want to post from a file you upload or your Facebook page. You can even post multiple things at once. The free versions of Later and Planoly don’t support video or carousel posts, so having the option to post multiple things at once is really nice.
6. Post to your Facebook Business Page at the same time. Additional details can be added to your Facebook post after you publish to Instagram.

One of my favorite parts is that the box where you enter your caption shows how many characters you have remaining (2200 max), how many mentions you have remaining (30 max), and how many hashtags you have left (30 max). Since I write long captions, it’s great to be able to type from my computer and know exactly how much room I have left.

There are downsides, of course. You can’t resize the picture with your fingers before posting like you can using the Instagram app (I would have more of my head in this picture, for instance.) You can’t choose one frame from the video to be shown as a preview. You can’t schedule Stories. You can’t edit the post once it’s scheduled and saved. I’ll share those other downsides as I uncover them.

I’ll be going in-depth on this for my @amazon show tomorrow, so make sure to listen for that using your #Echo or the Alexa app!
